Memorial Day Bloghop 2009

Happy Memorial Day weekend! This is the weekend we celebrate all of our military men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom. I have been married to my Air Force soldier now for 9 years. My job as a mother is going to be alot harder in the next year as my husband prepares for a year long deployment. He was not forced to take this job, he signed up for it. So when you enjoy time with your family this Memorial Day weekend, please keep our soldiers in your prayers and remember that freedom isn't free.

I hope you enjoy my card I made especially for this weekend. So here is what I used: Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Summer Sun; Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Kiwi Kiss, Always Artichoke, Ruby Red, Not Quite Navy, Apricot Appeal, Black Stazon; Stamps: The Free & the Brave, Canvas Background (retired); Accessories: Sizzix Ribbon Sizzlet, Sizzix Top Note Die (exclusive to Stampin'Up!) Key Tag punch, Pewter Jumbo eyelets, linen thread.
So I signed up for the Memorial Day Bloghop, hosted by Cards for Heroes, http://cardsforheroes.org/ . There are over 100 bloggers signed up for this hop, so you will have the opportunity to check out all of their wonderfully creative patriotic ideas in honor of Memorial Day. You will also have option of leaving comments on each blog. Some of the bloggers are giving away Blog Candy. Blog candy is a free give away item you can win if you leave a comment under their Memorial Day Bloghop blog entry. I happen to be giving away some blog candy myself.
This wonderfully patriotic Stampin'Up! "Land That I Love" stamp set can be yours if you leave a comment below ;) I will use one of those internet sites that picks random numbers, so good luck!
Now that you have enjoyed my post, here is the next one on the stop, check out Suz blog at: http://craftysuz.blogspot.com
If you get stuck on a blog that doesn't link, please go back to http://cardsforheroes.org and you should be able to click on the list to keep going.
Have a great day!

Your card is beautiful. The Free and the Brave is one of my all time favorite stamp sets. I really like how you used the eagle in the corner. Very subtle but simply beautiful!

Sandy said...

Awww Charlotte, I just got the most wonderful tugs on my heart with your post! First that your hubby signed up to go---tell him thank you, okay? And get us his addy so we can send him cards?

And then I teared up when I saw the set you're offering. There was a dear cardmaker of ours who made so many wonderful cards for us, and she was also my demo. She knew I loved patriotic images so was always stamping me images of Godspeed and...this set. Piles of them. I've gone through them all now, and, sadly...she passed on last fall. I'm not telling you this to win the prize (as a matter of fact I'd rak it on, I'm not in any of this for the prizes!)....but to tell you what that stamp set means in my heart. It's just a little piece of Glinda. Funny how a silly piece of rubber can have such meaning, eh?

And, while I'm going on about her - before she passed, she had sent her stash of year-round cards. And on occasion as I get out cards saved for the appropriate season, I come across a card she made. And it's like she's still with CFH, even from her perch in the clouds.

Thanks for helping Glinda be a little part of this hop, even if just for me...she would have LOVED this whole event!

I would help her get care pachages ready for Vietnam war and other military servers with help from through the red cross for postage from them...we would put all the items together the airforce mothers would buy and box them to go. I helped with the parades and funraisers for their support of the troups. I am enjoying this blog and all who participated. Thanks for all of you who honor our military with your support and cards.
