A Cardinal Christmas - My Shoebox swap September Demo Meeting

This new stamp set is in the Stampin'Up! holiday mini catalog available for purchase Oct. 1st. As soon as I saw the cardinal it took me back to watching the bright red male of the species flying around in the snowy winter at my parents farm. My grandfather was a bird watcher and loved cardinals as well.

I used the new In Color Riding Hood Red, Kraft and Chocolate Chip cardstock. Ink colors were Old Olive, Riding Hood Red and Black Stazon pads.
I started by stamping the cardinal in Black Stazon onto watercolor paper. I used the Aqua painter pens (On special starting Oct. 1st) to watercolor the body, beak, branch and leaves. I used the Real Red marker to color in the berries. Then I colored with Real Read and Old Olive on the foliage and berry stamp and gave it a good huff (stampers know what I mean!) and stamped that twice on the top and bottom piece of Kraft paper. Merry Christmas was stamped in Chocolate Chip. Last but not least I colored around the birds eye with the Black marker and used my white gel pen to make it look more realistic. I think it turned out great! Hope you enjoy.

BTW, this card was my shoebox swap for my upline's (Kimberly VanDiepen) Demo Meeting. We made some really beautiful cards that night ;)

Cards for the Sisters - Beta Sigma Phi

For the last several weeks I have been stampin' with my sorority sisters! We decided for a Ways & Means fundraiser we would make a 5 pack of cards and sell them to the other local sisters to add money to our budget. We put that money back out into the community.

So here are three of the cards we are selling. I am still working on the design for 2 more. The card in the middle is a CASE from my uplines class and I think it turned out beautiful! I was wearing glitter home after making a bunch of them!

More to come soon!

Meeting Shelli at Convention and other cool stuff

So I thought it would be fun to put some photos up here of some of the fun stuff I did at Convention. I stood in line for almost 2 hours to meet Shelli Gardner, Cofounder and CEO of Stampin' Up! She is so gracious and nice. She signed my convention bag and new catalog!

Have you seen the Decor Elements? OMG, I have pictures of some of Phase II from Convention... they will be available for purchase October 1th! I also had my photo taken with Dale Fillmore, President and COO of Stampin' Up! He was so friendly and I gave him one of my swaps for his wife.

Decor Elements Phase I

Okay here is the Together Forever Circle Frame in Chocolate with my last initial "H" in the middle. It only took me about 10 minutes to put it up. Wow, so cool!

Oh so pretty!

Today I had a few hours to work while my DD age 2 was napping and DS age 5 was in school. I wanted to make something very pretty and oh yes I think it turned out great.

I have been waiting to play with my new Stampin' Up! Big Shot again... why did I wait so long?! Anyways, I used the Top Note Bigz Die to cut the So Saffron CS, then I colored my flowers with Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip (both with daubers) and Old Olive (marker). I used the Chocolate Chip dauber again on the bottom of the flower petals and stamped it on the So Saffron. Then I flipped the block over and inked up the grassy side and stamped right on top, but down a bit. Next I used the CC dauber again and did the edges around the Top Note. My card base was Old Olive, the DSP on half the front is from the Haiku pack...oh so pretty! I used the Wide Oval to punch out the sentiment from the level 1 Best Yet set (Chocolate Chip on Old Olive) popped it up with 2 dimensionals. I put the 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon thru the side where I punched with the Horizontal Slot. Wow, I think that's all...

Now the other card is using a masking technique, brayer, gold embossing powder and more DSP from the Haiku... oh so pretty! paper pack. If you want to see how I made this card, you will have to sign up for my Stamp Club later this month!

Until next time...

Playing catch up

Today I decided to work on my make n' takes from the SU! Convention... yeah it was a month ago and I opted to work on my swaps instead of going to the second make n' take session. I must say that they have turned out beautifully so far. I did the bag and bookmark this afternoon and then got busy with everything else. I hope to get more done tomorrow!

Rubbah hugs,
