Stampin'Up! Stars ABC Blog Hop ~Altered Canvas

Welcome to the Stampin'Up! Stars ABC Blog Hop! You may wonder what ABC stands for, well it means Anything But a Card.  So I racked my brain to figure out what should I make... then it hit me, girl, how many canvases do you have sitting in the craft room ready to alter!  More than I should put in writing, because if the hubby only knew some of what was still in boxes from our move last summer he might have a cow! LOL

So before I show you what I made, I just want to quickly reference the previous stop on the Stampin'Up! Stars ABC Blog Hop, it is Mary Campbell's blog: http://mimitojett.blogspot.com , so if you found your way here thru somewhere else, be sure to back up and see what she created special just for this weekends hop ;)  Or you can start from the beginning at http://su-stars.blogspot.com/ !

Anyways, on with the show! I really love to create these canvases with our wonderful Stampin'Up! products! That being said, I didn't actually use any stamps!  I know it is outrageous that I would dare not use them, but I used plenty of other awesome products that you can purchase directly from me at my demonstrator website: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/cmhollingsworth/ .
First off I have to tell you how much I love the family in the photo, they are not my family, but they are good friends that we left behind when we moved here from Colorado last summer. My kids and those kids love each other so much that it is almost sicky-sweet!

I started with a blank 12 x12 canvas from the craft store and an 8 x 10 photo.  I chose the new designer series paper called Paisley Petal Prints, available only thru April 30th and then again in the new Idea Book & Catalog from Stampin'Up! this summer!  I will give you the details on that later, or click on the link on your right with the Spring is Blossoming promo on it.  Next I went thru my stash of acrylic pants and picked out a nice blue color that I thought coordinated with the paper well and painted it on my canvas.  Then I adhered the designer paper and trimmed down my picture a bit and adhered them along with the cut out flowers from another sheet of paper from the Paisley Petal Prints.  Other products used include Beveled Windowpanes, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, On Board Chipboard and mini glue dots.

I hope you have enjoyed stopping by my blog! Please leave a comment or email me directly if you have any questions or would like to place an order.  Have a great weekend ;)

Eat Chocolate or Else!

I made this card a while back and thought, why haven't I shared it with you guys yet?  Sometimes I made pretty things and they end up underneath other things so here it finally is!  Here's what I did: Chocolate Chip Card base, Crumb Cake layer embossed with the Finial Press embossing folder, then sponged over with Chocolate Chip ink on a sponge.  I stamped the image, I love these cute little chocolates! onto Crumb Cake cardstock with Chocolate Chip ink and punched it out with the Decorative Label punch.  I punched a few of the Decorative Labels out of Chocolate Chip cardstock and layered that underneath the original punched out image. I used the Scallop Trim border punch to punch both sides of the next layer of Chocolate Chip cardstock for a pretty lace look. Finally I wrapped and tied the bow with 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon that was colored Crumb Cake and put on a beautiful Antique Brad to finish it off!  I hope you have a sweet day! ~Charlotte

Square Lattice Shamrock card

This was quick and easy card to make today! First I punched out 14 small hearts in Garden Green cardstock, 2 of those were used for stem pieces. I stamped the Lucky Shamrock stamp from the 2011 Occasions Mini catalog with Garden Green Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the 1 3/4" Circle punch and layered it on a 2 3/8" Scallop circle punch. I used snail to adhere it to the Whisper White and ran it through my Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  This smashes everything into a beautiful thin layer, a really cool effect! Then I adhered it onto a Garden Green card base.  It took less than 5 minutes to make!

Valentines for my kiddos

My kids had a pretty great Valentine's Day! I made the above card for my preschooler, Paige.  She loves kitty cats and I love her! I used the Blossom Petals punch for the head, ears and paws.  I also used one stamp from the Build a Blossom stamp set for the pink inside part of the kitty's ear. If you are wondering where the Purrfect sentiment came from the Pun Fun stamp set.
I wanted to make the kitty peek over a fence, so I came up with this one using Crumb Cake cardstock, Chocolate Chip ink pad and a sponge.

I got inspiration off Jackie Topa's website for the fishy card for my son Tommy.  She came up with this fish using 2 stamps from the Build a Blossom stamp set. I used the grass from Inspired by Nature, and the conversation bubble with the heart came from Valentine Defined. The colors I used are Tangerine Tango for the fish, Marina Mist for the water, Pumpkin Pie and Marina Mist cardstock for the base and bottom layer of the card.
Last but certainly not least are my two little Valentines!  They both got a chocolate dog from me and Daddy with a new Chi Chi Chihuahua Webkinz for Paige and BeyBlades for Tommy.

Hope you had a nice Valentine's day!

Build a Blossom Butterfly Card ~ Leadership 2011 Swap Card

Hello Stampin' friends!  I have been in my happy place creating again!  I really love the NEW Framed Tulips Embossing Folder from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  It is so much fun to create your own "framed" little piece of artwork!

So first, I used the the NEW Build a Blossom stamp set, stamping the flower petals and butterfly wings in a plastic stamp storage box with just enough bleach to cover the top surface of the stamp. You will want to put a folded paper towel in the bottom of the plastic container to keep from having too much bleach on your stamp that might cause your image to run. When the image is dry it will change colors. I recommend trying the bleach out in advance on some scraps until you figure out your what color combination you like.  After it was completely dry I used the NEW Blossoms Petals Punch to punch out the different pieces.  To make the middle of the flower I wrapped some Daffodil Delight Pompom Trim around itself and stuck it down with a dimensional.  Can you guess how I made the butterfly body? Check the pictures below!

So I took a scrap of Chocolate Chip cardstock and punched out this little bat friend and chopped off his wings with my paper snips, turning him into a butterfly body!  This card was so much fun to make! I wasn't able to go to Leadership this week in Nashville so one of my demo friends took it down to swap some for me.  I am really looking forward to what she will bring home from swapping and Momento Mall!
I hope to have more to share with you soon!

It's a Pony Party Birthday Card!

How much fun did I have this morning making this little piece of artwork for my little girl to take to her friend's birthday party today? Alot! My little girl, Paige, loves the My Little Ponies, so I let her help pick the colors for the pony and then we built the card around that. The Pony Party stamp set is really cool because it comes with wings for a pegasus, a horn for a unicorn, and tons of little "cutie marks" to choose from for it's little rump!  I stamped a second wing and colored it in and popped it up for a little more dimension. Of course a flying pony must be in action in the sky, so I sponged some Marina Mist around my clouds! I snailed together 3 Scallop Circles from the punch  to do that. I also really wanted to use the new Pompom Trim in Daffodil Delight from the NEW Occasion Mini catalog (Check out the link on the right, click and see all of the new, must have beautiful items in there!) I also used the NEW Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from the Occasions Mini to "frame" my little piece of artwork! Last but not least I added a little bit of bling in the form of the self adhesive rhinestones!  Paige has another birthday gift to drop off, both parties were at the same time... so we are making another special pony card for her other little friend! Now that I have rambled on... I will list what I used to make this sweet little piece of art:
115217 - Pony Party (wood mount) $20.95
120015 - Pony Party (clear mount) $15.95
